Walking around Chichibu in Saitama Japan, I was in need of coffee (and probably just something warm since it was snowing). I stumbled upon this shop and noticed a coffee roaster in the window woo hoo! The inside is quaint. It’s wood and charm, with a wood fired furnace heating the place and walls lined with fine china cups for the coffee.
Nose is nutty with a hint of raisin. Very smooth, a little thin flavor profile. Good milk chocolate, toasted almond, and more nuts on the finish. Although I didn’t see the beans, I would say that this coffee is a light medium roast, and for my preference went 30s-1minute too long as there is that definitive “dark” charcoal-like flavor on the finish that takes over the nuttiness. But as far as I’m concerned this is great considering the location and the beans they have at the door are burnt to a crisp 🙂
3/5 (the snow outside and the remote area I’m in bump this up a star)
